How to compress an image to 150 KB

Why 150 KB?
A 150 KB limit sits between the common 100 KB and 200 KB choices, but rounding up to 200 KB can produce a file your form rejects. Rounding down to 100 KB may remove more detail than necessary. Using an image compressor to 150 KB gives the picture the budget your destination permits. This is useful for a photograph, scan or other supported image when the receiving field explicitly specifies this limit; it is not a claim about the rules of any particular application service.
Before choosing settings, distinguish a maximum from a required range. “Under 150 KB” only describes a ceiling. “100–150 KB” also imposes a floor. For a stated range, open Advanced options and set Minimum KB to 100 while leaving the maximum at 150. The tool does not add filler to inflate a small file, so a source that cannot meet your constraints may need to be replaced with a better original.
What happens to quality
For a camera photo, choose JPEG if the destination asks for JPG. HEIC, PNG and WebP inputs can also be converted to JPEG here. JPEG removes transparency by placing it on white, which matters for signatures and logos. If transparency must survive, choose an accepted format that supports it and inspect the result against the background where it will be used. Changing the filename extension alone does not convert an image.
A file budget cannot specify a universal width and height. Two pictures with identical dimensions can take different amounts of space because detailed textures and smooth backgrounds encode differently. The compressor adjusts JPEG or WebP quality and can reduce pixel dimensions to fit the limit. PNG compression may require smaller dimensions. If a form requires minimum pixels, enter those constraints before compressing and do not submit a smaller result merely because its byte size is acceptable.

Make the most of your 150 KB
Keep the original available while you inspect the new file. Enlarge faces, fine print and important edges in the preview. If the result is difficult to read, try a clearer source with less empty space, or revisit optional pixel constraints. Raising the limit to 200 KB is only appropriate when the receiving destination permits it. Recompressing an already damaged download cannot bring its missing detail back.
When dimensions are mandatory, decide whether the full frame must remain visible. Minimum width and height constrain resizing, while exact dimensions can center-crop the image to the requested shape. Check the preview for cut-off text or subjects before continuing. A successful size reduction is not confirmation that an identity photograph or scanned document satisfies every rule of the receiving service.
On a phone, Download saves a file through your browser. It may appear in Files or Downloads rather than the photo gallery. Preview / Save to Photos opens the processed image and shows saving guidance; supported browsers also offer native file sharing. Available destinations depend on the phone. For a strict upload limit, select the downloaded file directly because other apps can re-encode an image when saving or sharing it.
For several images, the 150 KB cap applies to each successful output separately. Download all (ZIP) packages completed images together; the archive has its own total size and is not itself limited to 150 KB. Extract it before selecting an individual photograph in an upload form.
